Sydney
Saturday 10pm. What a day we just had it began quietly enough with a leisurely stroll thru the Rocks area with Mary Rose's cousin Philip and his wife Jen. We had a lovely lunch at the Mercantile pub after which we boarded the Quigley mini van and pretty soon we where on the highway heading for Watson Bay with Jen at the wheel. Pretty soon we ran into heavy traffic and Jen decided to take an alternative route via Bondi Junction and on to the famous Bondi Beach. We walked along the promenade and saw all the action Bondi offers the sun worshiping and surfing community. We then carried on to Watson's Bay were we saw the entrance to Sydney Harbor, a fantastic panorama. It was then time for a beer at Doyle's Wharf and Pub. We had a pint of the local beer and relaxed with Phil and Jen overlooking the lovely beach. By now Mary Rose and Phil were more like brother and sister than cousins as it was non stop talk from the minute they met filling in the gaps of family history. At Jen's suggestion we decided to continue our day with supper at Darling Harbor this is where museums gardens water fountains and sculpted walks are located. We settled on a restaurant in Cockle Bay were we had an entertaining few hours of conversation good humour and great food. Jen told us about the fireworks display scheduled for 9pm and she knew exactly where to sit for the best view so we hunkered down and were treated to a brilliantly orchestrated explosion of sound and colour above and reflected in the water below. It was a perfect ending to a great day. Thank you Phil and Jen. MR&K
