Queenstown Feb 3

Queenstown is NZ capital of adventure sports. Every possible adventure is offered here. The city is at the foot of the Remarkable mountains on Lake Wakatipu. The population is 22,000 but normally over 40,000 with tourists. There are over 140 restaurants/pubs numerous night clubs and beautiful stores. Happy hour is from 9pm to 10pm that is when all the adventure people are back and ready to party. There are beautiful walks, a botanic garden, bike trails etc., all within walking distance of down town. Our hotel overlooks the lake where we have had amazing sunsets. There is a Sky restaurant 2,500ft above the town accessible by chair lift only we had dinner there the night we arrived it was lovely watching the sunset and later the stars. We went on a 4hr guided Nature walk thru the bush it was excellent we learned a lot about NZ wild life what grows here and how to survive if one got lost in the forest. Our guide originally came from Birmingham and owns a very successful Nature Walks/hiking business he was excellent. We really like it here if we had more time we would do more hikes. Weather is cooler here especially in the evenings. Still no rain :) Most of my Queenstown photos are on my IPhone and for whatever reason won't upload to my IPad. Our next adventure is to Milford Sound for an overnight cruise. Mary Rose
